Low on fuel - while not crushing, it is frustrating to not even be able to move ahead due to constantly being short. As it's a demo I'm not sure if it's representative, but I found combat tended to be very rock/paper/scissors.ĭon't make expeditions quite so all or nothing, or it will be something players use up until their team dies, and then not bother with from that point on due to cost. I would like a bit more tactical uses of ships - mainly flanking or having facings which are more/less effective. Struggled to get/put to use cruisers and stealth craft. Low number of combat units, which I mainly chalked up to the demo length and not having the time needed to reach much. The issues however, weren't as off-putting to me as some others apparently. If anything the far future cyber ware look could be pushed further, maybe giving characters various implants as either cosmetics or "upgrades".

It definitely lends to the feeling of being in command by being able to send expeditions out, rather than just being shipbound the entire time. I would say maybe add a few more random events as flavour text for the possible encounters. I really liked the addition of ground expeditions. But normally I turn audio or music off on nearly all games which I didn't do here, so that's a big bonus. Music is fitting with only a few "musical swells" at odd points. Grim Darkness of the setting is an interesting tone and helps to further the feeling of isolation. There were some issues, but the good first: The addition of story based interactions and attempting to uncover the mystery of what happened is much more engrossing than "survive because" reasoning of other roguelikes. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.I might be a bit older, or atleast fondly remember playing the SSI classics, and other hex based games of the mid 90s. CRYING SUNS IS DEVELOPED BY ALT SHIFT AND PUBLISHED BY HUMBLE BUNDLE. We also planned to release the game on iPad soon after the desktop version.

But somewhere in a far corner of the Galaxy is Gehenna, a planet of ice and rock and a top-secret facility that is the pinnacle of Imperial Tech and also humanity’s last chance. And humankind, having long since lost the ability to survive on its own, is dangerously close to extinction. The OMNIs, god-like machines which did everything for their human masters, have mysteriously shut down.

And it's a hard one…Īfter 700 years of peace and prosperity, the Galactic Empire has suddenly been shattered into pieces. Prepare to die often, it's a rogue-lite game. A dark and disturbing atmosphere inspired by our favorite S-F universes (Foundation, Dune, Battlestar Galactica).
